Weekly Theme Descriptions:
Week 1: Taste & Trek Around Town
This week we will get to know each other and explore the local businesses and learn what they do and get some samples along the way! Black Cactus Printing, Taco Grill, Red Hive Market, Thai Village, Boje Bikes, Water Street Studios, and the Batavia Creamery.
Week 2: Grappling with Gravity
Gravity will either help or hinder as we see who can keep their egg from breaking in the egg drop, stack cups as high as possible, build an edible bridge that can hold the most weight, keep their balance at The Forge at Lemont Quarry and more!
Week 3: Mixology
A week dedicated to some experimenting and science as campers create their own fragrances, pour, mix and name your own mocktail, work in teams to figure out mystery liquids and powders, make bath bombs and take a trip to Inluro in Geneva to make their own incense.
Week 4: Say “YES” to the Mess
Be sure to come dressed for a mess this week! Who could pass up a chocolate syrup slip’n slide, hand print tag, messy Twister, cheeseball toss, tongue paintings, a color war and more!
Optional Week 5, June 29th – July 2nd: D-construction
How many ways could you open a watermelon without a knife? This week we will find out while also smashing open donated items (with safety in mind 😊), creating our own catapults and seeing who can take apart and put back together selected items.
Week 6: Flashy Fashion
Campers will create their own designs throughout the week for their Friday fashion show. T-shirts they collect will be made into toys they will then bring to an animal shelter; they will visit the Sock Monkey Museum in Long Grove and of course, play the frozen t-shirt game.
Week 7: Gems & Geodes
Campers will start the week off panning for gems and identifying them, going on a treasure hunt, partaking in chocolate chip cookie mining competition, making edible geodes and taking an all-day trip to Matthiessen State Park.
Week 8: Sludge, Smudge & Slime
Which week will be more of a mess? Only time will tell… O’obleck, slurp’n for worms, top secret pop-up fun only 2 people know about (shhhhh…), slime, shaving cream and the pie face game!
Week 9: Foodies
Be sure your taste buds are on point for the blind taste test and that you know how to make a pb & jelly sandwich. A cupcake “chopped” challenge will take place and we will see who will take the sour candy champ title this year! Oh, don’t forget the Foam Party on Friday.
Optional Week 10, August 3rd – 7th: Rewind, Re-visit, Re-do
One more week with friends to make memoires. Look back at the past 9 weeks of camp and decide what was the most fun and get the opportunity to do it one more time! Campers plan this week!
