Weekly Theme Descriptions:
Week 1: Taste & Trek Around Town
This week we will explore some of our local businesses! We will visit Red Hive Market, Water Street Studios, the Batavia Creamery, Chang Lee’s Taekwondo and have lunch at Jurin in Geneva!
Week 2: Grappling with Gravity
Gravity will either help or hinder as we build a collaborative sculpture throughout the week, see who can stack cups as high as possible, build an edible bridge, build with Duplos & Legos and visit the Discovery Center Children’s Museum in Rockford!
Week 3: Mixology
A week dedicated to some experimenting as campers create their own fragrances, make their own flavored milk, mix colors, make bath bombs with a surprise inside and become scientists as they mix various liquids and powders together to explore cause and effect.
Week 4: Say “YES” to the Mess
Be sure to come dressed for a mess this week! Who could pass up a chocolate syrup slip’n slide, hand print tag, messy Twister, cheeseball toss, tongue paintings, mud, a color war and more!
Optional Week 5, June 29th – July 2nd: D-construction
How many ways could you open a watermelon without a knife? This week we will find out while also smashing open donated items (with safety in mind), seeing who can make the biggest splatter and have a balloon popping bash!
Week 6: Bear Necessities
Just bring your teddy bear and we go the rest covered! We will make bear accessories, have a tea party, disco teddy dance, go on a bear hunt throughout Batavia and end the week with a Teddy Bear BBQ!
Week 7: Gems & Geodes
Campers will start the week off panning for gems & gold and try to identify them, go on a treasure hunt, partake in chocolate chip cookie mining, making edible geodes and go to the Sensory Garden in Lisle.
Week 8: Sludge, Smudge & Slime
Which week will be more of a mess? Only time will tell… O’obleck, slurp’n for worms, top secret pop-up fun only 2 people know about (shhhh…), slime, shaving cream and sculpting with sticky rice!
Week 9: Foodies
Be sure your taste buds are on point for the blind taste test and that you know how to make a pb & jelly sandwich. Decorate cupcakes and try some sour candy. Oh, don’t forget the Foam Party on Friday.
