CIT's Responsibilities with Campers:

CIT's will be subject to the same code of behavior and policies as regular Mill Creek ECP staff and will participate in all aspects of day-to-day camp programing. Under the supervision of our state certified teachers, CIT's are asked to be role models to the young campers by:

  • Making camp a fun place to be, helping to devise and plan games and activities
  • Helping to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere for the children
  • Helping children resolve conflicts

CIT's are still technically campers and therefore bound by many of the same rules and restrictions as regular campers. We require that CIT's pay a discounted tuition of $300/week, complete all required paperwork and attend during regular scheduled camp sessions and hours. *Geneva residents start June 2nd

Application Process:

Those interested in the CIT program should have a genuine interest in working with children and willing to commit the required energy, enthusiasm and cooperation in all aspects of the CIT program.

To apply, interested young adults will attend an in-person interview after submitting the following on or before Friday, March 20, 2026:

  • Complete the application form
  • Submit two reference letters. One should be a school professional (teacher, counselor or principal). The other a supervisor or coach for an extracurricular activity (volunteer experiences, sports, clubs, or work experience).

CIT candidates will be contacted on or before Friday, March 27th to schedule their interview. Interviews will be at 510 S. Batavia Avenue.

What does a typical day as a CIT look like?

Picture
Although the days may vary based on the scheduled camp programing, a typical day for a CIT will be:
  • Arrive and check in with your assigned mentor
  • Come together and help set up the days scheduled activities
  • Spend the morning with your assigned camp group (go with on all field trips)
  • CIT's come together at 1pm to help clean up and prep for the following day if needed
  • At 1:30pm we will come together to eat lunch
  • From 2pm to 3pm there will be daily feedback, self-reflection, and goal setting based on the week's curricula focus
By the end of your 4 weeks as a CIT, you’ll understand the expectations of a CIT, set personal and professional goals, learn safety procedures, how to spot potential risks, develop and practice professional communication skills, and gain various behavior management techniques to use when working with children in the future.

CITs also get to plan their own field trip, receive a camp T-shirt, and earn a certificate of participation. Upon successfully completing the program, you’ll be added to a mother’s helper/babysitting list shared with all Mill Creek ECP families and given priority over other applicants in the future.
